The death of two highly-trained and physically fit Navy SEALS in a base pool where they typically work out has raised more questions than answers.
According to this article on Stripes.com Petty Officers 1st Class Seth Cody Lewis and Brett Allen Marihugh were found unresponsive at the bottom of the pool in the Combat Swimmer Training Facility at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek in Virginia this past Friday.
The pool, which is slightly smaller than Olympic-sized, is used by the SEALs for formal training and is open for personal workouts during designated hours. Although there is a life guard on duty for 2.5 hours per day, during the SEAL's workout time there is no lifeguard, but the SEALs are required to swim with a buddy.
The Navy has ruled the two deaths accidental drownings, and will investigate to find out exactly what the two men were likely doing when they both drowned.
